Lotus Esprit World attended Piston Fest 2003 on Sunday 29th June. As I use www.pistonheads.com, and one of the Esprit forums on the site is run by them, I thought that qualified me to go. Tickets were £15 and a further £10 to park in the show area, which was basically a field surrounded by tents.
There was plenty to see and do, with some great cars around. You could also walk over to the drag strip and watch some quarter-mile racing. There were a few traders there and some show cars, also a tent with the F1 race being shown. Food and drinks were available and the Ice cream van was very popular due to the great weather.
This was the type of show everyone wants for a TEAM ESPRIT gathering. I wasn't large (in fact a little small considering the amount of different marques), but if we could get 80 Esprit's in a field, with dealers and traders surrounding and of course an Ice cream van. Then that would be perfect.
Of course the event was held over two days with many people camping. There was also entertainment on Saturday night with a band and plenty of booze. The event was slightly over run by TVR's, but there were plenty of other makes to look over. I counted 10 Esprit for the day, with the usual suspects of Dermot, Rob, James and Dom turning up. Other models included the wonderful Diablo, Ultima's, Ferrari's, Noble's, Porsche's, Viper's and many more.
